2009 MSBL Northeast
Regional Tournament
Tournament Rules
1. Bats:
25 division - wood only
35 division - wood only
45 division - wood only
2. A coin flip will determine the home team for all non-seeded games. For all seeded games, higher seed is home team.
3. Each team is required to bring two balls for its first three games. Please pick up your baseballs at Howard Johnson's before you start playing.
4. All games are seven innings.
5. MLB rules apply. Tournament rules supercede MLB rules.
6. Two courtesy runners allowed for each game. No courtesy runner rule for pitchers/catchers.
7. Players are to avoid collisions. If an umpire determines a runner deliberately collides with a defensive player, the runner will expelled from the tournament. Conversely, a defensive player cannot block a base unless he has the baseball.
8. Free defensive substitution except for the pitcher. A pitcher can re-enter the game as a pitcher once, but not in the same inning he was removed.
9. Managers may use an A/B batting scheme starting with batting position 9.
10. If a batting position is vacated due to injury and there's no offensive replacement, a team can condense its batting order. If a batting position is vacated due to ejection and there's no offensive replacement, the batting position is an automatic out.
11. If a pitcher hits three batters during the game, the pitcher is no longer allowed to pitch in that game. He can play another defensive position.
12. Ejected ballplayers must leave the ballpark. The umpires will determine the definition of "ballpark". If the ejected player fails to comply with the umpire's decision, his team will forfeit the game.
13. There is a 2:20 time limit for preliminary round games. A new inning cannot start after 2:20 from the start of the game. There is no mercy rule. Games suspended due to darkness will resume early the following morning. Games stopped due to rain shall be considered official if the losing team had at least five at-bats.
14. Team representatives must pick up their baseballs at the Howard Johnson's conference room between 5:30pm and 8:30pm Friday September 4. The balance of your team's entry fee is due at this time. If a team representative can not meet at this time to pick up baseballs or remit entry fees, please contact tournament officials at 518-768-8069 to make other arrangements.
15. If seeding teams Saturday night results in a second matchup of teams that played earlier Saturday, tournament officials reserve the right to adjust seedings.
